The fourteenth Leadership Character Awards (LCA) luncheon originally scheduled for October 28th, 2020 has been cancelled and rescheduled for October 27, 2021 due to the Covid-10 Pandemic.

However, the 2020 Lifetime Achievement Award for Leadership Character will be presented to honoree Hala Moddelmog in October at a virtual celebration event to be held on October 28, 2020. We are very excited about this first ever virtual event and are proud to honor Hala Moddelmog for her years of inspiring leadership which is aligned with the Turknett Leadership Character Model.

Additionally, net proceeds from the 2020 Virtual Lifetime Achievement Award for Leadership Character event will go to TLG’s newly established Leadership Character Youth Coalition and to education initiatives of the Metropolitan Atlanta Chamber of Commerce.

The goal of the Leadership Character Youth Coalition is to help spread leadership character principles around the world, by utilizing a multitude of digital assets.  The target is youth and the methodology to spread the word is through engaging schools, not-for-profit partners, and business.

The Metro Atlanta Chamber supports a broad set of initiatives aimed at educational excellence and expanded workforce opportunities for our region including Learn4Life, Mac’s public policy team, ChooseATL After 5, and OpportunityATL:

  • Through Learn4Life, MAC partners with local businesses, higher education institutions and philanthropic organizations to work directly with eight (8) school districts in and around Atlanta. Learn4Life uses what’s working in our local communities to advance educational outcomes for our students and expands those opportunities across the eight districts through a wide variety of action networks all focused on providing quality outcomes for all families in our region.
  • MAC’s public policy team engages with a variety of stakeholders, including legislators and agency professionals, to expand educational access and opportunity across the birth-to-five, k-12, higher education and workforce development systems.
  • The ChooseATL After 5 program each year brings together hundreds of interns from the across the region to network together, explore the diversity and excitement of Atlanta, and give these interns insight from leaders of the nation’s largest and most unique companies headquartered here in Atlanta.
  • OpportunityATL is a MAC-led initiative that puts out-of-school, out-of-work young people, between the ages of 16 and 24, directly in touch with service providers and employers who can help them complete their education or find gainful employment while offering support services before, during and after their search. Through this program, hundreds of young people have engaged in education and workforce opportunities that are sponsored by our region’s diverse economy.

There are many ways you can participate in the upcoming 2020 Lifetime Achievement Award for Leadership Character, including donating, sponsoring or simply attending.
